The Charles F. Boyle Memorial Scholarship Fund is sponsored by Milford Eagles Pop Warner. A minimum of two scholarships will be granted each year in Charlie’s honor. Charlie was an active board member with Milford Pop Warner for many years. During his time with Pop Warner, he was not only a coach and mentor to many of the program participants but to the coaching staff and volunteers as well. Although his time with Pop Warner was important and will leave a stamp on our Pop Warner family forever, his most important role was Father, Husband, and beloved friend to many. His legacy will live on in all of us and we are proud to present this scholarship to deserving students in his name.
Charlie Boyle
Charlie Boyle grew up in New Jersey, the third of nine children. As a kid he played football, basketball, and baseball. In high school, Charlie found Wrestling and that would become his sport for three years. After high school, Charlie began working as a dispatcher for a telecommunications company. Over time he was promoted to technician, then foreman, then field supervisor and in 1997 he was promoted to branch manager and transferred to Milford, CT. Five years later his position was eliminated after 22 years with the same company. Charlie and three of his former coworkers decided to start their own telecom company, Telserv. Within 14 years, the company grew to 60 employees with customers such as People’s United Bank, Hartford Hospital and Yale University. Charlie was a great businessman but most of all he was a family man. He and his wife Lauren have three children: Jimmy and twins Hailey and Kari. Charlie was always involved in his kids’ lives, and he was a coach on Jimmy’s football team for seven years. He loved watching all three of his kids play sports and attended all their games.
Qualification/ Eligibility/Documentation
• Milford Pop Warner participant for a minimum of 4 years in cheer, football, flag or Jr. Coaching
• GPA 2.8 or above
• High School senior in a Milford school who will be attending college, technical school, or the military
• Demonstrates leadership qualities and active participant in community service
• Must be an active participant in High School Athletics/Cheer
• Must complete and submit application no later than June 1, 2024, with the following:
o School transcript
o 2 letters of recommendation from non-family members. At least one must be from a former or current teacher who can attest to your character. Please include address and phone number.
o Essay - Charlie had a significant impact as a coach and friend to many during his time with Milford Pop Warner. In a 400-hundred-word essay please respond to one of the following two prompts:
o Describe the impact a Milford Pop Warner volunteer made on your experience with Pop Warner.
o Describe how being a part of Milford Pop Warner has positively impacted your life.
